Manage the branch’s evaporation-related activities of grains within silos, maintaining the quality of stored grains and preventing any infestations. This role requires a strong understanding of evaporation processes and their impact on grain storage, as well as the ability to adhere to quality control standards and safety protocols.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Grain Evaporation
Provide pre-evaporation notices to relevant branch teams (e.g., Control Room Operators, Cleaners) to ensure silos are ready to implement the quality assurance cycle.
Assess the type of treatment needed based on pest infestations.
Inspect silos continuously and provide recommendations to identify pest issues and eliminate identified pests.
Ensure gas-tight storage facilities to maintain effective evaporation, avoid grain humidity, and prevent risk of loss.
Ensure proper handling of grain during fumigation and evaporation to avoid grain loss and mistakes.
Monitor evaporation levels within the silos to assess the risk of moisture accumulation and potential infestations.
Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure proper functioning of evaporation control equipment and address any issues promptly.
Provide Lab Analysts with grain samples after evaporation to measure grain quality.
Oversee evaporation records and compliance documents to improve quality of grain.
Maintain accurate records of evaporation activities to provide comprehensive reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
Safety Policies and Procedures
Prepare for any evaporation-related emergencies to respond promptly to incidents.
Ensure compliance with evaporation standards, policies, and procedures to maintain expected grain quality standards.
Adhere to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) policies and procedures to prevent occupational injuries.
Ensure safety measures during evaporation to avoid incidents and ensure emergency response readiness.
Maintain good knowledge of evaporation principles, including heat transfer via evaporation to avoid occupational injuries.
Skills
Knowledge and Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
Experience with evaporation equipment, agriculture, food, or a related industry is necessary.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in chemicals management, agriculture, or any related discipline.
