This is a full-time on-site role for Estimation Engineer Mechanical for our esteemed client in Saudi Arabia. The Estimation Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates for Oil & Gas field mechanical construction projects. This includes reviewing project requirements, developing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure the timely submission of competitive and realistic bids. The Estimation Engineer will play a key role in cost planning, procurement analysis, and the development of financial strategies for mechanical works in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation and Analysis:
  • Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for the full scope of Oil & Gas construction projects, including mechanical systems, piping, equipment installation, and other mechanical components.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and scope of work to prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Utilize industry-standard methods, tools, and historical data to develop cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project requirements.
  • Perform quantity take-offs, material take-offs, and manpower forecasts to determine accurate resource needs for the project.

2. Bid Preparation:

  • Support the preparation of competitive bids for mechanical construction projects by collaborating with the project management and engineering teams.
  • Review contractual documents and specifications to ensure all cost elements are covered in the bid.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain quotes for materials, services, and equipment necessary for mechanical works.
  • Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure they meet the projects requirements and budget constraints.

3. Risk Analysis and Contingency Planning:

  • Identify potential risks associated with mechanical construction scope and include appropriate contingencies in the cost estimate.
  • Assess the impact of scope changes, project delays, and external factors on the estimated costs and adjust the estimates as needed.

4. Cost Control and Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to track the mechanical budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in cost control activities, including monitoring actual costs against estimates and analyzing variances.
  • Provide ongoing support for cost forecasting and help manage changes to the budget during the projects execution phase.

5. Preparation of Technical and Financial Reports:

  • Develop and present detailed estimation reports and cost breakdowns to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and documentations for ongoing or upcoming projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all estimates, including assumptions, methodologies, and key decisions.

6. Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with mechanical engineers, procurement teams, project managers, and other departments to ensure the cost estimates align with the projects technical requirements and schedules.
  • Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to validate the availability and cost-effectiveness of materials and equipment.
  • Participate in project meetings to review cost implications of design changes or scope alterations.

7. Continuous Improvement and Industry Knowledge:

  • Stay updated on market trends, material costs, labor rates, and technological advancements to ensure cost estimates reflect current market conditions.
  • Continuously improve estimation methods, processes, and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost estimation for mechanical works.
  • Participate in training, workshops, and industry conferences to further develop knowledge in cost estimation, mechanical construction, and the Oil & Gas sector.

8. Project Handover:

  • Assist in the handover of final cost estimates to the project management team upon project award.
  • Provide support to the project execution team with any queries or updates related to cost estimates during the construction phase.
  • Ensure that all estimates are aligned with project objectives, client expectations, and contractual agreements.

Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in mechanical cost estimation for Oil & Gas construction projects, with a proven track record of preparing estimates for mechanical works.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including piping, equipment installation, and mechanical systems.
    • Proficient in estimation software (e.g., MS Excel, Estimation Tools, and specialized cost estimation software).
    • Experience with industry standards, codes, and regulations relevant to mechanical construction in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent ability to analyze technical drawings, specifications, and scope of work to prepare accurate and reliable estimates.

Salary: SAR 5000 - SAR 6000 + FA 300 + Accommodation + Transportation
