ROLE OVERVIEW

ENOWA seeks an experienced Environmental Compliance Lead to join the NEOM Water Sector team. The candidate will be critical in ensuring environmental compliance for NEOM water asset projects.

REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

  • Applicants must have an ISO14001 Auditor Certification.
  • Strong understanding of all the different ESIAs criteria as per NCEC.
  • Strong understanding of all the different EPOs criteria as per NCEC.
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance as per NCEC.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES

The Environmental Compliance Lead responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Policies, Procedures, and Standards

  • Maintain and revise NEOM Environment, policies, guidelines, procedures, and standards to ensure they are implemented appropriately and optimally as and when required. The scope apply for Water Sector assets.
  • Conduct research to identify sustainability opportunities, interests, and issues for Water Sector assets.

Performance

  • Prepare for the Water Sector the technical Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) proposals according to NEOM Environment Requirements and the National Center of Environmental Compliance (NCEC).
  • Provide to the Water Sector technical assistance for environmental regulations, environmental management systems, and projects.
  • Perform for the Water Sector assets environmental compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with NCEC regulations and NEOM Environment requirements.
  • Follow-up and audit environmental management system (ISO 14001) for construction water assets.
  • Implement environmental management systems (ISO 14001) for operational water assets.
  • Develop plans, permits, and procedures for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, stormwater, and wastewater.
  • Manage multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Prepare for the Water Sector technical Third-Party Environmental Audit proposals and participate in its development.
  • Prepare for the Water Sector environmental walkovers and utilize geostatistical software to create an environmental desktop review.
  • Prepare for the Water Sector the technical Environmental Permits for Operation (EPO) proposals according to NEOM Environment Requirements and the National Center of Environmental Compliance (NCEC).

Reports and Documentation

  • ESIAs and EPOs technical proposal for Water Sector assets.
  • ESIAs and EPOs review documentation for Water Sector assets.
  • ESIA and EMS audit Water Sector assets in construction.
  • EMS implementation for Water Sector assets in operation.
  • Environmental Compliance Tracker for Water Sector assets.

Stakeholder Management

  • Interact closely with project teams, proponents, and contractors to integrate environmental principles into all phases of infrastructure development.
  • Interact with various NEOM Water departments to ensure that the reports are completed on time and are verifiable.
  • Work with colleagues across the business on Sustainability Built Environment related projects.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in Environmental Compliance.
  • Strong presentation skills, presentation preparation, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Relevant Professional Memberships/Accreditation.
