In Riyadh, we are constructing the new fully automatic driverless metro system and have been appointed as Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contractor for O&M for a period of 10 years after the completion of the construction. The biggest project of its kind in the world in terms of simultaneous start of service on multiple lines with the latest technologies.
What are my responsibilities?
As an EHS Engineer you will be accountable to the EHS Manager for the environmental, occupational health and safety performance of all worksites. The responsibilities assigned to EHS Engineer shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following:
- Ensure/Provide a safe and healthy environment to our people and to our subcontractors. Protect Alstom assets and reduce business interruption resulting from fire and natural catastrophe.
- Support Site Management in achieving HS results.
- Cooperate with the internal resources to achieve HS objectives.
- Support to EHS Site Manager on EHS Risk Assessment and take appropriate measures to control risks.
- Support the EHS Site Manager to prepare, implement and maintain emergency plans.
- Assist Site EHS Site Manager to coordinate and control activities with respect to HS, especially where interfaces are involved with other contractors or operation areas of the plant.
- Provide support and advice to site personnel to prevent injury to personnel, damage to plant and equipment, fire, ensuring protection and site safety such as environmental pollution.
- Recognize best practices and good performance and warn for infractions involving violations of regulations and Alstom Standards.
- Advise other site personnel on all aspects of HS applicable to site activities.
- Coordinate activities with the Site EHS Manager, ensuring that HS requirements are implemented.
- Develop Site EHS Management System.
- Support the Site EHS Manager to develop, deploy and maintain the local procedures and tools applicable to the Site specific for EHS Management System, ensuring alignment with Alstom Standards and international standards (EHS roadmap, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001).
- Support the Site EHS Manager to ensure that Alstom HS standards and tools (e-book, Directives, AZDP, Transport specific requirements etc.) are properly understood and deployed at Site level.
- Reporting and Accidents/Incidents investigation.
- Support the EHS Site Manager to capture, report, record, investigate and analyze accidents/incidents to take corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the preparation of monthly HS reports. Feed company EHS reporting system in line with company reporting requirements.
- Assist Site EHS Manager to ensure HS compliance of site activities according to the EHS Plan, guidelines and work instructions.
- Carry out inspections of work areas and conduct EHS audits, reporting any discrepancies.
- Provide training to inform, instruct and train employees to carry out work safely according to the method of statement.
- Participate in the implementation of the site EHS training programmes by providing EHS inductions guidelines.

Minimum qualifications
- University Engineer Degree
- Health & Safety Qualification recognized by the enforcing authorities in the country of operation (when required)
- Minimum Experience of 2 years in Environment, Health & Safety.
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety at site level, risk assessment and auditing.
- Experience in the railway is a plus.
- Local language as a minimum; English or French languages could be ideal.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Alstom EHS Policies
- Experience with international HSE standards i.e. IOSH, ISO 45001, OSHA…etc. and local regulations
- Knowledge with technical skills for reporting i.e. Microsoft Applications.
- Working experience in KSA
