EHS Engineer 3

As an EHS Engineer, you will be accountable to the EHS Manager for the environmental, occupational health, and safety performance of all worksites. The responsibilities assigned to EHS Engineer shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following:

Ensure/Provide a safe and healthy environment

1. Ensure a safe and healthy environment for our people and subcontractors.
2. Protect Alstom assets and reduce business interruption resulting from fire and natural catastrophes.
3. Support Site Management in achieving HS results.
4. Cooperate with internal resources to achieve HS objectives.
5. Support the EHS Site Manager on EHS Risk Assessment and take appropriate measures to control risks.
6. Support the EHS Site Manager in preparing, implementing, and maintaining emergency plans.
7. Assist the EHS Site Manager in coordinating and controlling activities with respect to HS, especially where interfaces are involved with other contractors or operational areas of the plant.
8. Provide support and advice to site personnel to prevent injury, damage to plant and equipment, and environmental pollution.
9. Recognize best practices and good performance, and warn against infractions involving violations of regulations and Alstom Standards.
10. Advise other site personnel on all aspects of HS applicable to site activities.
11. Coordinate activities with the Site EHS Manager, ensuring that HS requirements are implemented.

Develop Site EHS Management System

1. Support the Site EHS Manager in developing, deploying, and maintaining local procedures and tools applicable to the Site specific for EHS Management System, ensuring alignment with Alstom Standards and international standards (EHS roadmap, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001).
2. Ensure that Alstom HS standards and tools are properly understood and deployed at Site level.

Reporting and Accidents/Incidents Investigation

1. Support the EHS Site Manager in capturing, reporting, recording, investigating, and analyzing accidents/incidents to take corrective and preventive actions.
2. Support the preparation of monthly HS reports and feed the company EHS reporting system in line with company reporting requirements.

HS Compliance

1. Assist the Site EHS Manager in ensuring HS compliance of site activities according to the EHS Plan, guidelines, and work instructions.

Audit and Inspections

1. Carry out inspections of work areas and conduct EHS audits, reporting any discrepancies.

Training

1. Inform, instruct, and train employees to carry out work safely according to the method statement.
2. Participate in the implementation of site EHS training programs by providing EHS induction guidelines.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

1. University Engineering Degree.
2. Health & Safety Qualification recognized by the enforcing authorities in the country of operation (when required).
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Environment, Health & Safety.
4. Strong knowledge of Health and Safety at the site level, risk assessment, and auditing.
5. Experience in the railway sector is a plus.
6. Local language proficiency; English or French is ideal.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with Alstom EHS Policies.
2. Experience with international HSE standards (e.g., IOSH, ISO 45001, OSHA) and local regulations.
3. Technical skills for reporting (e.g., Microsoft Applications).
4. Working experience in KSA.
