About the job Speech Language Pathologist

One of our clients is in the Health Care industry in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and is hiring for the position of Speech-language Pathologist.

Location: AL Khobar Eastern Province KSA

Years of Experience: At least 3 years of clinical experience in the healthcare industry.

Educational Qualification: Masters Degree in speech pathology phoniatrics.

Notice Period: Immediate joiners or maximum one-month notice period.

Job Summary: Assessing, diagnosing, screening, managing and preventing language, speech, and swallowing disorders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete the new hire mandatory orientation program within 30 days of hire.
  • Complete the competency-based department orientation within 90 days of hire.
  • Consult with and keep Chief Medical Officer informed of activities, needs and problems.
  • Comply with established speech therapy standards.
  • Implement and maintain established Center programs, policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention and control.
  • Responsible for proposing and implementing departmental policies.
  • Ensures service is in compliance with all regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Maintains clinical competency through assumption of clinical duties if licensure is required.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, safe environment for patient and personnel.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of department supplies, equipment facilities. Report defective supplies and malfunctioning equipment to Chief Medical Officer. Request maintenance and repair. Document maintenance.
  • Ensure that preventive maintenance on all instrument and equipment are done and PPM is attached and valid.
  • Perform tasks such as assessing, diagnosing, screening, and preventing language, speech, and swallowing disorders.
  • Evaluate and manage children with speech problems.
  • Manage children with improper speech, letter substitution and articulation problem.
  • Teach adults with hoarseness and voice professionals how to vocalize and speak without voice strain.
  • Communicate with the patient, and liaise with their family members and physicians to design effective treatment plans.
  • Use tried and tested therapies in combination with new, innovative techniques to provide the best care.
  • Educate patients and their families on speech disorders and available therapies.
  • Evaluate patient progress and implement changes to therapy programs as required.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Participate in the quality improvement activities as required.
  • Participate in the implementation of performance improvement initiatives within and across the department.
  • Identify general areas of actual or potential risk in the clinical aspects of the delivery of patient care and safety.
  • Report actual or potential risk of patient and staff injury.
  • Promote communication:
  • Effectively communicate and maintain harmonious interpersonal relationships with health care team and peers.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrate tact and understanding when dealing with team members and ancillary staff.
  • Maintain patients' rights and confidentiality of patient information, and abide by established communications code.
  • Professional attributes:
  • Display assertive behavior that enables speech therapists to exercise their rights without denying the rights of others.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of changing trends in speech therapy practice, active participation in conference, classes and meetings.
  • Apply scientific principles in performing speech therapy procedures; knowledge of the rationale for actions.
  • Support and interpret the Center's mission, vision, objective, programs, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in activities that will assist the speech therapy department and Center's administration to provide ongoing improvement in patient care services.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Saudi Council registration as speech therapy specialist.
  • Master's in speech pathology phoniatrics.
  • At least 2 to 3 years clinical experience in a healthcare facility.
  • Abilities:
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Arabic and English language proficiency.
