Position Title: Senior Geologist, II

Broad Band: M10

Reporting to: Director, Exploration

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

The Senior Geologist plays a pivotal role in the Exploration team, providing expertise and project management in drilling-related activities with a focus on greenfields and brownfields. Reporting to the Director, Exploration, they are responsible for designing, managing, and coordinating drilling programs, soil sampling programs, and reconnaissance mapping across multiple assets, ensuring safe and efficient execution to aid in the discovery of new resources.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Design, manage, and coordinate drilling programs for Exploration, across multiple assets, adhering to safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
2. Coordinate and supervise other in-field activities, including soil sampling and mapping.
3. Involved in contract management, equipment selection, and resource allocation to ensure effective and efficient exploration outcomes.
4. Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to design drilling programs that align with project objectives, geological targets, and exploration priorities.
5. Ensure the collection, management, and analysis of drilling data in accordance with industry standards and guidelines, focusing on delivering high-quality and reliable data for accurate resource estimation and reporting.
6. Interpret drilling results and provide geological insights and recommendations to support resource estimation, optimization, and development planning decisions.
7. Monitor drilling progress, evaluate drilling performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drilling efficiency and effectiveness.
8. Mentor and develop junior geologists, providing guidance and technical support in resource development, including near mine exploration and drilling activities.
9. Stay updated with industry advancements, new drilling technologies, and best practices, and apply them to improve drilling operations, exploration techniques, and resource development strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Qualification:

Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related field

Experience:

5-10 years mining and or mineral exploration industry experience within Gold and or Base Metals.

Skills:

• 3D geological software (Leapfrog, Surpac)
• GIS Software (ArcGIS)
• Geological Database Software
• MS Office
