Job Description
Our client, a premier healthcare facility is seeking skilled and dedicated Outpatient Procedural Technician to join their Endoscopy Unit team. In this critical role, you will assist with various outpatient procedures, ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient-centred environment. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing endoscopic and outpatient procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of patients for outpatient procedures, including obtaining vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is complete.
Prepare and maintain the procedural area, ensuring that equipment is properly sterilized, functioning, and ready for use.
Assist healthcare providers during endoscopic procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and support as needed.
Monitor patients during and after procedures, observing for any signs of complications or adverse reactions, and promptly reporting any concerns to the healthcare team.
Educate patients and their families about the procedures, pre- and post-procedure care, and any necessary follow-up instructions.
Participate in maintaining a clean and organized procedural environment, adhering to infection control protocols and safety regulations.
Assist in the documentation of patient care and procedural outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Engage in continuous education and training to stay updated on best practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements related to outpatient procedures and endoscopy.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Completion of a relevant healthcare training program is preferred.
Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Previous experience in an outpatient procedural area, endoscopy, or surgical setting is highly desirable, with specific skills in:
Endoscopy: Certification in Conscious Sedation and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required; experience with ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound), and pH motility procedures is a plus.
Excision: Previous operating room (OR) experience, surgical experience, and wound care knowledge are essential.
Radiology: Certification in Conscious Sedation, ACLS, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required; previous critical care experience is beneficial.
Strong knowledge of endoscopic procedures, related equipment, and infection control standards.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
