Cost Controller

Job Description

Wood is currently looking for a Cost Controller to join our team in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management

1. Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for construction projects.
2. Monitor and manage project costs, ensuring they align with budgets.
3. Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.

Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR)

1. Perform regular CVR analysis to compare actual costs against forecasted values.
2. Track project performance, profitability, and variances.
3. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.

Project Valuations

1. Conduct interim valuations and manage applications for payment.
2. Prepare and submit accurate project valuation reports to clients.

Procurement And Contract Management

1. Assist with procurement processes, including tendering and negotiation.
2. Review, draft, and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
3. Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, and payments.

Financial Reporting

1. Prepare and analyze project financial reports, including profit/loss assessments.
2. Ensure alignment with financial regulations and company policies.
3. Collaborate with the finance team to support month-end and year-end reporting.

Risk Management

1. Identify financial and operational risks and propose mitigation strategies.
2. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Collaboration And Communication

1. Work closely with project managers, site teams, and other stakeholders.
2. Present financial data and CVR findings to senior management.
3. Provide guidance to team members on cost control and reporting practices.

Qualifications

1. Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Accounting, or related field.
2. Professional certifications (e.g., RICS, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) are advantageous.
3. Proven experience in quantity surveying and/or accounting, with a focus on CVR.
4. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
5. Strong proficiency in CVR processes and financial reporting.
6. Proficiency in financial and project management software (e.g., Sage, Xero, MS Excel).
7. Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, and practices in quantity surveying and accounting.
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
10. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
