Job Responsibilities

1. Ensures a safe working environment for himself, his colleagues, and contractors while working on any equipment.
2. Ensures that there is a Permit to Work for each job as necessitated by the safety rules and associated Procedures.
3. Ensures all Method Statements, Work Instructions, and Procedures are followed by himself and Contractors while undertaking any work.
4. Ensures that all appropriate tools are available to ensure work can be carried out safely on equipment on all jobs at the plant.
5. Points out any unsafe conditions to the Mechanical Engineer or Shift Team Leader.
6. Completes all Work Orders generated in CMMS as directed by the Lead Mechanical Engineers.
7. Ensures that maintenance of all mechanical equipment is in accordance with OEM Manuals and best practices for the equipment.
8. Works to full potential and produces high quality of work.
9. Supports the 24-hour operation by being regularly available for call-out at short notice.
10. Attempts all possible means of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high Plant availability.
11. Records and reports to the Mechanical Engineer all rectification jobs undertaken.
12. Discuss planned and unplanned jobs undertaken with the Mechanical Engineer.
13. Ensures appropriate tools and equipment are available at work sites and used while performing any job.
14. Ensures that tools are in a safe and in good working order before use.
15. Reports loss of tools or damage to any tools to the Lead Mechanical Engineers.
16. Informs the Mechanical Engineer of any requirements for tools.
17. Assumes ownership of plant mechanical equipment and strives to keep them in the best possible condition.
18. Ability to carry out maintenance activities on a range of major engineering components and systems in accordance with OEM Manuals for the equipment.
19. Organizes spares, tools, and equipment to carry out maintenance activities.
20. Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary to determine failure conditions and rectifies the defects found.
21. Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with mechanical equipment under the guidance of the Lead Mechanical Engineers.
22. Be an active part of the maintenance team and help it to meet appropriate people and plant related performance measures.
23. Ability to carry out duties with minimum supervision.
24. Ability to work within a multi-cultural environment and with multi-disciplinary staff.
25. Practical knowledge of the isolation of plant.
26. Knowledge of international health & safety working practices.

Qualifications

1. An engineering related education to diploma level in Mechanical.
2. At least 3 years of relevant experience.
3. Previous employment will have provided experience at a similar level and status within the discipline of Mechanical maintenance.
4. Preferably should have practical knowledge and exposure of Gas Turbine technology and multistage Desalination plant.
5. Trained in emergency fire fighting.
6. First Aid trained.
