The role is responsible for carry out laboratory testing works such as testing of soil, aggregate, cement, concrete and asphalt as per the Testing Program and field in-situ testing in accordance with BS/BSEN/ASTM standards. Prepare test equipment calibrations at required frequencies. Working on site is required depending on the job requirement.
Check the condition of the received samples, and reject improperly taken samples, or samples with incomplete information. Informs the Senior Laboratory Technician of any discrepancy of the samples.
Perform the required Physical analysis as per the defined and approved standard methods.
Performs routine quality control checks of data to ensure worksheets and reports are accurate.
Maintain the integrity of lab instruments and testing equipment, inform the Senior Laboratory Technician of test related abnormalities.
Calibrate Lab instruments according to calibration schedule as given in the Calibration status of the instruments and sends equipment that requires external calibration to a third party calibration agency.
Checks expiration date of reagents and chemicals prior to performing the analysis.
Assist Senior Laboratory Technician in ensuring proper inventory of lab accessories and PPE’s.
Conduct field trips to collect samples when required. Perform on-site or in-situ testing when required.
Adheres to the QA/QC practices of the laboratory.
Follows Laboratory standard Safety rules and regulations.
Maintain good housekeeping in his testing area and overall laboratory facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of laboratory testing
Degree in Engineering, preferably in the area of Civil
Basic awareness of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory requirements.
Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
Minimum 5 years experience working in a quality assurance and/ or testing laboratory
