Job description

The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities within a building or facility, ensuring that it is safe, clean, and well-maintained. This role includes supervising a team of maintenance workers, inspecting various building systems, addressing issues related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility upkeep, as well as ensuring the completion of maintenance tasks to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Building Administration: Oversee the inspection and maintenance of lighting, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, and other general building issues to ensure optimal operation and safety.
  2. Regular Site Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the building and surrounding areas to identify issues that require maintenance, and develop necessary repair or improvement plans.
  3. Maintenance and Safety Inspections: Perform regular walkthroughs to identify potential maintenance needs and safety hazards, and initiate corrective actions.
  4. Facility Cleanliness & Orderliness: Supervise the cleanliness and orderliness of facilities, ensuring that all areas meet cleanliness and safety standards to create a comfortable environment for tenants and visitors.
  5. Tenant Inspections & Budgeting: Conduct inspections related to tenant clearance and prepare detailed maintenance budgets in line with company policies.
  6. Maintenance Job Follow-up: Follow up on maintenance jobs assigned to the team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and within the required time frame.
  7. Reporting to Management: Provide comprehensive reports to the manager regarding maintenance activities, including tool usage, material consumption, man-hours, and the required skills for each task.
  8. Completion of Maintenance Jobs: Ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed to the highest standards of efficiency and quality, in compliance with company policies and safety protocols.
  9. Quality Supervision: Oversee the quality of work performed by the maintenance team, ensuring all tasks are carried out correctly, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  10. Work Scheduling & Supervision: Schedule and supervise maintenance repair work, ensuring appropriate resources are available, and assist with the installation and servicing of building equipment.
  11. Renovations & Projects Oversight: Supervise and oversee any ongoing renovations, refurbishments, or building projects, ensuring they are completed as planned, on time, and within budget.
  12. Security & Emergency Preparedness: Ensure that building security measures and emergency preparedness procedures are properly implemented, including fire safety, emergency exits, and access control.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Proven experience in building maintenance or facilities management.
  2. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  3. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and general maintenance practices.
  4. Ability to identify and solve maintenance issues efficiently.
  5. Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
  6. Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in a building setting.
  7. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
