Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Assistant Nursing Director, the head nurse assumes twenty-four hour responsibility for managing the human and material resources of the assigned unit. Leads and manages the provision of high quality nursing care, in an environment that fosters and encourages staff growth and both patient and staff satisfaction. Develop and implement the nursing operational plan within the unit that is aligned with nursing strategy to achieve the company’s mission and vision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure that all care provided is regularly and systematically evaluated against expected outcomes, ensuring any necessary changes are implemented.
  2. Ensures that the principles and standards common to national and international accreditation organizations are being implemented and maintained at all times.
  3. Receives and investigates OVRS in a timely manner to determine the nature of the problem and take immediate corrective action as appropriate.
  4. Participate as an integral member of a Multi-cultural and Multi-disciplinary Health Care Team while demonstrating a high level of professional practice.
  5. Act and serve as a role model and clinical resource for the nursing team, ensuring that all staff are aware of the standards of professional behavior expected by the company.
  6. Planning and forecasting staffing requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education: Bachelor, Sciences of Nursing (BSN) from recognized college.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 7 years progressive post-graduate experience with 2 years recent acute hospital experience as Head Nurse/Senior Nursing post (Essential), and previous experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
  3. Computer skills: Knowledge of MS Office full package application.
  4. Licensing: Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) and Courses according to area of Specialty, Basic Life Support Certification.
  5. Skills:
    1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including achieving operational efficiencies and maintaining budgets.
    2. Demonstrate strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
    3. Possess a broad range of knowledge in the healthcare system.
  6. Languages: Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English & Arabic.
