The Agriculture Equipment Technician will specialize in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing agricultural machinery and equipment. This role requires a strong technical understanding of complex agricultural systems, hands-on experience with equipment such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems, and the ability to deliver high-quality service. The technician will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of equipment used by customers in the agriculture sector.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics and Repair - Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in agricultural equipment. - Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, gearboxes, brakes, and control systems. - Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify faults in equipment and systems. - Test repaired equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Preventive Maintenance - Perform regular maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid level checks. - Inspect and service hydraulic systems, cooling systems, and power take-off (PTO) components. - Ensure equipment complies with manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules.
Equipment Setup and Calibration - Install and calibrate new agricultural equipment to ensure proper functionality. - Set up precision farming systems, such as GPS and automated control systems, for enhanced performance.
Field Service Support - Provide on-site service and repairs for customers in remote or field locations. - Assist customers in understanding equipment operations and basic maintenance procedures. - Respond promptly to service calls and minimize equipment downtime for customers.
Documentation and Reporting - Maintain accurate service records for all equipment repairs and maintenance performed. - Prepare detailed reports for customers and internal records, including diagnostics and completed repairs. - Provide feedback to the dealership on recurring issues or customer concerns for improvement.
Compliance and Safety - Follow all safety protocols when working with heavy machinery and equipment. - Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to workplace safety regulations. - Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials, such as oil and coolant, in compliance with environmental laws.
Training and Development - Stay updated on the latest agricultural technologies and repair techniques through ongoing training. - Participate in manufacturer-specific certification programs for agricultural equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
Proven experience as a technician specializing in agricultural equipment maintenance and repair.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in agricultural machinery.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair bulletins.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
Ability to work independently in remote field conditions.
Education and Certification
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in agricultural equipment repair is a plus.
Certifications from recognized manufacturers or institutions in agricultural machinery maintenance especially New Holland products is a plus.
Manufacturer-specific training or certification in agricultural systems is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift heavy components and equipment (up to 23 kg).
Prolonged standing, bending, and working in outdoor or field environments.
Comfortable working in physically demanding and variable weather conditions.
