An exciting opportunity is available for Sr Engineer, Static located in Jubail.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Corrosion Engineer is responsible for managing and mitigating the risk of material degradation due to corrosion across the plant. This position ensures the integrity and reliability of equipment by developing corrosion control strategies, implementing inspection programs, and providing technical expertise in corrosion prevention and mitigation techniques. The Corrosion Engineer also supports operational teams by contributing to risk-based decisions and maintenance plans.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Planning and execution of all inspection activities for Turnarounds and S/Ds (lead inspection activities before).
  2. Lead technical study/investigation for static equipment with repeated failure affecting the integrity of equipment.
  3. Monitor and evaluate critical static equipment in his area to increase equipment reliability and performance.
  4. Expertise in corrosion mechanisms, materials selection, and protective coatings.
  5. Familiarity with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodology, CML/TML, and Corrosion Loop Development.
  6. Experience in monitoring and evaluating Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), Sour Service, and Cathodic Protection (CP).
  7. Proficiency in conducting Failure Analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) related to corrosion.
  8. Knowledge of relevant standards, including API, ASTM, ASME, and NACE.
  9. Experience in planning and executing inspection programs, including corrosion monitoring and inhibitor evaluation.
  10. Strong skills in technical reporting and issuing actionable recommendations for corrosion control.
  11. Advanced knowledge of welding procedures, materials degradation, and mitigation strategies in corrosive environments.
  12. Competency in using corrosion monitoring software and databases.
  13. Oversee the development and execution of corrosion management system, including on-stream monitoring for plant assets.
  14. Apply API-580 methodology to evaluate risks and prioritize inspection activities effectively.
  15. Approve corrective actions and provide technical guidance to address coating failures and optimize cathodic protection systems.
  16. Actively engage in HAZOP sessions, ensuring all corrosion-related issues are identified and mitigated.
  17. Supervise water treatment systems and recommend solutions to address corrosion-related challenges.
  18. Ensure materials selection aligns with applicable codes, standards, and corrosion resistance requirements.
  19. Periodically assess and update corrosion loops, controls, and damage mechanism analyses to reflect current conditions.
  20. Develop scopes for new technology applications, lead field deployment, and ensure successful execution.
  21. Train teams on the effective use of coatings, cathodic protection, corrosion inhibitors, and other corrosion control methods.
  22. Extract insights from corrosion monitoring tools and recommend actionable solutions.
  23. Investigate corrosion-related failures and implement root cause-based resolutions to prevent recurrence.
  24. Evaluate plant modifications and upgrades to address material and corrosion challenges effectively.
  25. Identify and deploy innovative materials to resolve complex corrosion challenges in plant operations.
  26. Regularly update Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs) to reflect operational or facility modifications and ensure alignment with current plant conditions.
  27. Review inspection reports and analyze trends to monitor and manage corrosion activity across the plant.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering.
  2. Strong knowledge of the international standards and codes NACE, ASME, API, and ASTM, especially inspection and corrosion standards such as API-571, API-579, API-580, API-570, and API-510.
  3. Valid NACE (AMPP) Certification or API-571 and NACE CP level II.
  4. 10 years of experience in Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industries.
  5. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Corrosion Engineer.
