Airport Master Planner

General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

The Airport Master Planner will be responsible for leading the development, planning, and implementation of comprehensive master planning strategies for airport infrastructure projects. This role involves overseeing the coordination of various airport development initiatives, ensuring the integration of design, construction, operational, and environmental aspects into a cohesive master plan.

• Lead the development and implementation of airport master plans, ensuring alignment with aviation standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
• Oversee and manage the planning process for large-scale airport development projects, including terminal expansions, runway extensions, and associated facilities.
• Coordinate and integrate various disciplines, including airside, landside, terminal, and infrastructure planning.
• Manage project control activities related to cost estimation, scheduling, risk management, and budget adherence for airport infrastructure projects.
• Supervise a team of planners, engineers, and consultants, providing leadership and guidance on all aspects of airport planning.
• Develop and maintain risk registers, identifying potential project risks and formulating mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders including airport authorities, government agencies, contractors, and consultants to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.
• Ensure compliance with relevant local, national, and international aviation standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate planning progress, challenges, and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field from an accredited university.
• Minimum 12-15 years of experience in airport master planning, with a strong background in managing large and complex airport infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, airport operations, and infrastructure development processes.
• Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing cross-functional project activities.
• Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices within airport planning and development.
• Strong understanding of airport design, engineering contracts, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
• Demonstrated experience in risk management, cost estimation, and quality assurance for large-scale projects.
• Experience working internationally, particularly in regions with large-scale airport development, is a plus.
