What is the job

Assist with the planning, ordering or production of food items pertaining to the respective section(s) of the food and beverage outlet or kitchen. Provide instruction to less experienced culinary staff.

Prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards. Control food usage to minimize waste.

Every day is different at IHG, but you'll mostly be:

  1. Organize all activities within a Restaurant Kitchen area, ensuring a safe, smooth running and profitable operation within the framework of the Hotel and as directed by the Executive Chef.
  2. Maintain the Restaurant cuisine concepts and standards for food preparation and presentation as directed by the Executive Chef.
  3. Be familiar with local market and plan/recommend menu changes according to the seasonal product availability.
  4. Achieve department budget goals and minimize food cost by ensuring that proper preparation, inventory, requisition, food pars and control systems are in place.
  5. Accurately schedule kitchen staff based on weekly business levels therefore be familiar with occupancy levels daily.
  6. Promote positive inter-departmental relations through candid communication and cooperation.
  7. Assist in determining the minimum and maximum stocks of all food, material and equipment.
  8. Assist in creating and testing new recipes and menu design.
  9. Inspect the cleanliness of the line floor and all kitchen stations. Maintain and strictly abide by proper storage procedures and state sanitation and health regulations. Notify Maintenance of any needed repairs.
  10. May serve/assist the Sous Chef in his/her absence as required.

Required Skills :

Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.

Food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local government agency.

Problem solving and training abilities.

Qualifications :

Diploma or Vocational Certificate in Culinary Skills or related field.

Experience :

2 years experience as a cook or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
