The Civil Engineer (Heritage Project) is responsible for the design, planning, and oversight of civil engineering projects related to the restoration, renovation, and preservation of heritage sites and historic buildings. This role requires specialized knowledge in architectural conservation, structural assessment, and the application of appropriate construction techniques to maintain the historical integrity and character of protected structures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of heritage sites and historic buildings to evaluate their structural condition, identify restoration needs, and develop appropriate engineering solutions.
2. Design civil engineering plans and specifications for restoration, renovation, and preservation projects that adhere to heritage conservation guidelines and building codes.
3. Collaborate with heritage experts, architects, and construction teams to ensure the proposed designs and construction methods are aligned with the historical significance and cultural value of the site.
4. Monitor and oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to approved plans, specifications, and heritage conservation standards.
5. Perform structural analysis and provide engineering recommendations for the stabilization, reinforcement, or adaptive reuse of heritage structures.
6. Develop and implement comprehensive project management strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of heritage site restoration projects.
7. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in heritage conservation engineering.
8. Provide technical expertise and guidance to stakeholders, including government agencies, heritage organizations, and the public.

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

1. Bachelor&aposs degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering, with a focus on heritage conservation or historic preservation.
2. Minimum 8 years of experience in civil engineering projects related to the restoration, renovation, and preservation of heritage sites and historic buildings
3. Strong understanding of architectural conservation principles, building codes, and heritage protection regulations, preferably with an understanding of mudbrick (adobe) architecture and experience with onsite support in a heritage conservation context.
4. Proficient in structural analysis, design, and the application of appropriate construction techniques for historical structures.
5. Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including heritage experts, architects, and construction professionals.
7. Passion for preserving the cultural and historical significance of heritage sites.
