Librarian

Our client is seeking a highly skilled, visionary, and dynamic Libarian to lead and expand the division.

The key role to support learning across the school. The library is the heart and soul of the school and learning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Acquiring, organising, managing and distributing library resources
2. Use library software to manage inventory
3. Plan inquiry units with teachers and source relevant books
4. Support literacy learning by working together with the teachers and students to source resources including books, publications, audiovisual aids, reference material, online resources and artefacts that support the engagement of readers. Advocacy and cultivating love of reading and use of library in the community
5. Create creative spaces to further interest of the community to engage in the library.
6. To work with the National Library of Singapore to borrow and return books.
7. Manage library budgets and resources
8. Liaison with departmental academic staff, external organisations and suppliers
9. Plan programs for different audiences, such as storytelling for young children, or support students with independent research and learning
10. Assist readers to use computer equipment, conduct literature searches etc
11. Liaise with other Middleton and EtonHouse staff to facilitate collaboration
12. Organise library events and promote a love for reading across the school
13. Lead an ECA and be actively part of a professional learning committee
14. Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Principal.

Job Requirements

1. Minimum qualification of a Degree in Library Science and/or Education
2. Possess at least 2 years of teaching experience in a school library
3. Self-motivated, independent and a strong team player
4. Open minded to learning
5. Creativity of thought
