As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
- Leading teams of technicians and subcontractors on a daily basis, motivating and delegating work to ensure daily targets are clearly identified and achieved, and that all work is carried out efficiently and effectively in accordance with scheduling, health, safety, and quality requirements.
- Managing mechanical activities in the workshop and the day-to-day supervision and monitoring of all ongoing work.
- Supervising and coordinating workshop teams and subcontractors, ensuring they complete tasks on time and safely to required standards.
- Allocating work and ensuring completion in accordance with the project schedule.
- Being responsible for daily checks on all plant and equipment to ensure they operate at optimum efficiency.
- Creating, allocating, and controlling shift requirements for all teams/subcontractors and maintaining relevant records.
- Assisting teams in resolving matters arising and covering for other supervisors as required.
- Ensuring that teams and subcontractors meet deadlines with due care and without undue delay.
- Being directly accountable for day-to-day requirements of project stakeholders.
- Keeping up to date with and being aware of new products and improved working methods that can add value by improving quality and reducing costs.
- Completing project documentation and reports accurately and concisely.
- Identifying corrective actions and implementing countermeasures to maximize productivity.
- Being responsible for all plant and equipment on hires, off hires, breakdowns, corrective actions, and countermeasures.
- Ensuring relevant materials and consumables are identified, sourced, and delivered in a timely manner to minimize project disruptions while maintaining records and controlling stock.
- Maintaining effective health and safety systems, including completion of risk assessments, method statements, toolbox talks, etc.
- Being able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Charging hours to the project according to manpower utilized.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a high school diploma.
- Have 3+ years of experience in mechanical work.
- Have experience in mechanical activities such as assembly of pipes, equipment, welding, and testing.
- Have flexibility regarding working hours, including days and weekends.
- Have the ability to prioritize work, accommodate conflicting requests, while ensuring the day-to-day functionality of the project.
- Have excellent HSE knowledge and standards.
- Have the ability to identify faults in the project accurately and quickly when under pressure.
- Have experience of working within 'time-critical' production environments.
- Be proficient in English.
