Main Duties & Responsibilities:


  1. Understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
  2. Maintain good rapport and working relationships with staff in all departments.
  3. Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, Departmental and Hotel Training as scheduled and other related activities.
  4. Undertake any reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Engineering / Assistant Engineering Manager.
  5. Respond to any changes in the Engineering department function as dictated by the hotel.
  6. Handle guest and employee inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, reporting guest complaints or problems to supervisors if no immediate solution can be found and assure follow up with guests.
  7. Handle and treat all matters of a confidential nature, oral or written, with tact and discretion.
  8. Perform functions not stipulated in the job description in line with the Internal Work Rules and effective local labor legislation as instructed by the Entity’s General Manager.
  9. Be available to be cross-trained in other areas of the hotel.
  10. Implement the 10/5 Rule at all times during work hours.
  11. Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures.
  12. Daily repair and maintenance together with any other modification required for kitchen equipment.
  13. Check the gas line feeding to the equipment and gas detection panels, fire suppression system, and gas valves.
  14. Attend daily morning and afternoon briefings.
  15. Receive daily maintenance orders and execute all maintenance points, recording the time used and material on the order and returning back to engineering on the same day.
  16. Be responsible for mechanical, electrical, lighting, and plumbing of the kitchen.
  17. Report any signs of defects in kitchen equipment immediately to the Assistant Engineering Manager or Assistant Director of Engineering.
  18. Maintain readiness of your toolbox and order urgent spare parts or materials as needed.
  19. Be in charge of the maintenance program of the electrical outlets.
  20. Carry out work as planned preventive maintenance schedule as directed by the Assistant Engineering Manager or Assistant Director of Engineering.
  21. Keep an accurate log of all work carried out and materials used.
  22. Check the Engineering orders log book for outstanding orders, starting with items marked urgent.
  23. Use appropriate safety clothing/equipment and follow all maintenance instructions as laid down by the Assistant Engineering Manager.
  24. Assist other personnel in emergencies and carry out other engineering duties as required by management.
  25. Keep the working area tidy and in good order.
  26. Undergo any training deemed necessary by the department.
  27. Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions; install, replace or repair damaged equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls.
  28. Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; clean heaters and blowers and check burners.
  29. Assemble and install metal duct work.
  30. Maintain records and write reports.
  31. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints efficiently and timely.
  32. Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required.
  33. Inspect and maintain fire sprinkler systems.
  34. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  35. Assist in providing electrical repair and maintenance to motors, starters, breakers, and associated equipment throughout the entire building.
  36. Assist in socket repair and replacement.
  37. Assist in installing electrical wiring for renovations, electrical outlet additions, motors, and associated equipment.
  38. Assist in providing electrical set-ups for exhibits and conventions, maintaining electrical equipment for exhibits.
  39. Assist in providing preventive maintenance of all electrical/mechanical/plumbing equipment and updating of appropriate logs.
  40. Clean all stations in Engineering and maintain a neat and organized department.
  41. Respond to all guest complaints regarding the maintenance of their room or public area in a timely manner.
