Job description

Key Role:
The Project Manager for the Museum Project in Mecca will be responsible for
overseeing the development, planning, execution, and successful completion of a
world-class museum that reflects the cultural, historical, and spiritual
significance of Mecca. This is a senior leadership role requiring expertise in
project management, design, construction, and museum operations. The Project
Manager will work closely with architects, engineers, museum curators, cultural
experts, contractors, and government authorities to ensure the project meets
all specifications, budget constraints, and timelines, while adhering to
high-quality standards.


Responsibilities


Project Planning and Strategy


  1. Develop and implement the overall project plan, defining the scope, objectives, and
    deliverables, ensuring alignment with stakeholders' vision.
  2. Establish the timeline, budget, and milestones for the project, ensuring it remains on
    track.
  3. Identify and mitigate project risks and challenges proactively.

Stakeholder Management


  1. Act as the primary point of contact between the museum development team, government
    officials, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  2. Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure timely communication and alignment
    with project goals.
  3. Present progress reports, updates, and findings to senior management, ensuring
    transparency and accountability.

Team Leadership and Coordination


  1. Lead a diverse team of professionals, including architects, engineers, designers,
    curators, and contractors.
  2. Foster collaboration among team members, ensuring efficient workflow and
    accountability.
  3. Resolve any interpersonal conflicts or project-related issues that may arise within the
    team.

Budget and Resource Management


  1. Oversee the budget to ensure the project is completed within financial constraints.
  2. Monitor resource allocation and ensure that materials and labor are managed
    effectively.
  3. Approve expenditures and control project costs, avoiding scope creep.

Quality Control and Compliance


  1. Ensure that the museum construction and design comply with industry standards, regulations,
    and cultural requirements specific to Mecca.
  2. Guarantee that quality standards are maintained throughout the project, with particular
    attention to the preservation of historical and cultural assets.
  3. Conduct site inspections and oversee testing to ensure that all aspects of the museum
    are built to the required specifications.

Schedule Management


  1. Develop detailed project schedules, track progress, and adjust timelines as necessary
    to meet deadlines.
  2. Coordinate all project activities and manage dependencies between different teams to
    ensure timely delivery of key milestones.

Museum Operations and Post-Construction Planning


  1. Work closely with curatorial and operations teams to ensure the design incorporates
    functional and visitor-friendly spaces.
  2. Plan for the transition from construction to museum operations, including training,
    staffing, and operational readiness.
  3. Monitor and evaluate the museum’s operational readiness and assist in the post-construction
    phase.

Technical Skills


Project Management Tools and Software


  1. Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent
    to plan and monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources.
  2. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software to coordinate and visualize
    the architectural and engineering design.

Construction Knowledge


  1. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, architectural design, building codes, and
    regulations.
  2. Experience managing contractors and construction teams within the museum, cultural, or
    heritage sector.

Budget and Cost Management


  1. Strong understanding of financial management and cost control processes for
    large-scale projects.
  2. Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Regulatory Compliance


  1. Experience with obtaining permits, ensuring compliance with local building codes, and
    liaising with authorities in Mecca.
  2. Knowledge of sustainability standards and international standards for museums and
    cultural institutions.

Risk Management


  1. Experience in risk analysis and management, with the ability to identify potential issues
    early and take corrective actions.

Minimum Qualification


  1. Bachelor's in Architecture/Museums, Construction Management, Engineering, Museum Studies,
    or a related field.
  2. 15 years' experience in similar projects, 5 years working in Saudi Arabia, with a
    leadership personality, minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.

Recommended Qualifications


  1. PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification is highly
    desirable.
  2. Proven track record of successfully completing complex projects within budget and on
    schedule.
  3. With at least 3-5 years in managing large-scale cultural or museum projects.
