Job description

Operate the units as prescribed by the Work Instruction Procedures.

  • Provide Operations support & guidance during the commissioning of the plants. Maintain accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives.
  • Provide Operations guidance to ensure safety, reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, and controls.
  • Manage plant production efficiently based on input provided from Plant Management and Plant Process Engineering to ensure safety and reliability targets are met to achieve maximum profitability.
  • Report shifts production progress and plant status to the Shift Supervisor, providing operational solutions for shortfall areas.
  • Provide technical support & guidance during the startup / shutdown of the plants.
  • Assist Operations in maintaining accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives.
  • Train Senior Operators, Engineers, and Supervisors within the control system to ensure adequate coverage and continuity of operation.
  • Provide shift technical support to ensure the safe and reliable operation of equipment, processes, utilities, and controls as prescribed by the Work Instruction Procedures.
  • Lead troubleshooting activities and participate as the technical lead for Root Cause Investigations, leading technical reviews as required.
  • Monitor plant production daily, driving asset performance & ensuring daily targets are met to achieve maximum profitability.
  • Provide Operations team support and safety leadership for MOC’s and other safety related initiatives in order to drive process safety compliance.
  • Operate the facility ensuring Environmental and Regulatory requirements are not exceeded.
  • Engage in all aspects of plant operations, DCS and field, to effectively operate the plant & meet the customer’s satisfaction on safety, reliability, product quality, and flexibility of product supply while in compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Support & maintain close working relationships with engineering and maintenance personnel to continuously monitor & evaluate plant systems & equipment through a Plant Process Advisory Model.
  • Support the maintenance and engineering team in maintaining plant reliability through the execution of preventive maintenance activities scheduled and coordinating corrective maintenance activities of the equipment in order to optimize activities during plant shut downs to avoid business interruption.
  • Provide operations support and participate in investigations and Root Cause Analysis to identify & implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Facilitate attainment of operational excellence and customer satisfaction via operations productivity, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate plant activities with other shifts to maintain continuity between shifts for a safe and reliable operation.
  • Provide Operations Specialist Engineering leadership to drive asset performance which includes troubleshooting, plant efficiency, process safety, equipment reliability, and advanced controls initiatives.
  • Execute other duties as assigned from reporting managers in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  1. Engineering Degree or 3-year technical school certificate.
  2. Experience in process plant operation, at least 5+ years plant control room operations experience.
  3. High leadership and supervisory skills; team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  4. Understands the operational mode of a controller – manual, automatic, cascade, setpoint of process variable, controller output, etc.
  5. Ability to multitask, perform under stressful conditions, and respond and adapt in changing conditions.
  6. High level of proficiency of computers including Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  7. Knowledgeable in the coordination of operations and maintenance activities.
