Roles & Responsibilities
Content Development and Interpretation:
- Lead the development of a content strategy for both the Royal Museums and Royal Library, focusing on creating engaging narratives and themes that reflect the Royal Foundation’s history and cultural significance.
- Collaborate with the Curation and Design Team to provide content direction for exhibitions, ensuring that the collections are presented in innovative and meaningful ways.
- Work with the Specialized Library Team to develop content frameworks for research materials, thematic collections, and public-facing library programs.
- Oversee the creation of interpretive materials, such as catalogs, publications, and online resources, to complement the museums and library offerings.
Collection Strategy and Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive collections strategy for both the Royal Museums and Royal Library, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s mission and vision.
- Identify, locate, and negotiate the acquisition of scattered royal assets, including artifacts, rare books, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and other culturally significant materials.
- Establish ethical and legal protocols for the acquisition and transfer of assets, ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.
- Plan for the long-term care and management of the collections, considering conservation, storage, and accessibility needs.
Documentation, Cataloging, and Metadata:
- Oversee the creation of a centralized cataloging system for all assets, ensuring accurate documentation and metadata creation for both physical and digital collections.
- Ensure all collection items are documented according to international standards (e.g., MARC for library materials, museum cataloging standards).
- Collaborate with the Specialized Library Team to harmonize library-specific cataloging processes with broader content and collection management efforts.
- Develop workflows for tracking provenance, condition reports, and acquisition records for all collection items.
- Work closely with the content team in the foundation and be the focal point for content and collection.
Digitization and Digital Content Planning:
- Design and oversee the digitization strategy for the Royal Library and Royal Museums, focusing on creating accessible, high-quality digital records of the collection.
- Work closely with the Operational Planning Team to procure and implement digitization technologies and platforms.
- Develop content frameworks for digital storytelling, ensuring that digitized materials are presented cohesively and meaningfully for both academic and public audiences.
- Plan for the integration of digitized assets into online platforms and future digital exhibitions.
Preservation and Conservation Planning:
- Develop and implement a preservation and conservation plan for physical and digital assets, ensuring the long-term protection and accessibility of the collections.
- Identify and prioritize items requiring immediate conservation or specialized care, working with external conservation experts when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Operational Planning Team to ensure storage and environmental conditions meet international preservation standards.
Qualifications Required:
Advanced degree in Museum Studies, Archival Science, Library Science, Cultural Heritage Management, Art History, or a related field.
Years of Experience: 7 years of experience

- Project Leadership: Demonstrated skill in managing complex projects, including digitization and acquisition efforts.
- Collaborative Mindset: Able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to achieve shared goals.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with collection management systems (CMS), digitization tools, and metadata standards.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
