The Complex Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the entire engineering and maintenance operations of multiple resort properties. This role ensures the safety, functionality, and efficiency of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The Complex Chief Engineer will lead a team of engineering professionals to deliver exceptional maintenance services and uphold the resort's high standards of guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise all engineering operations across multiple resort properties.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, and facilities.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental guidelines.
Oversee repair and maintenance projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
Monitor energy consumption and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce costs.
Lead and develop a team of engineers and maintenance personnel through training, coaching, and performance management.
Collaborate with other departments, including housekeeping, front office, and food & beverage, to address maintenance needs.
Negotiate contracts with external vendors and service providers.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance reports.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and ensure a rapid resolution.
Ensure full compliance with local Fire Life and Safety laws and ensure 3rd party certifications and checks are in place.
Ensure full compliance with local EHS laws, ensuring adequate water quality, air quality, and TSE parameters are maintained at all times.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in engineering and maintenance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Previous experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a resort setting.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and other engineering software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Preferred Certifications:
EPA Certification for HVAC systems.
OSHA Safety Certification.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Capable of standing, walking, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including heat and cold.
