The UNICEF Gulf Area Office (UNICEF GAO) is unique in its mandate, accountable for providing programmatic support to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. It identifies, cultivates, and sustains partnerships with Gulf-based partners to generate resources for the organization globally, ensuring rapid development in the Gulf is child-sensitive and child-focused.
Context
Assists in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to promote children’s and women’s issues in the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission, and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand.
National UN Specialist Volunteers in Saudi Arabia are entitled to:
- Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) in the amount of SAR 13,616.74

Task Description
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for:
- Planning and Oversight
- Support in the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies to effectively engage partners and stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with partners in Riyadh.
- Coordinate closely with Communications colleagues in different offices for consistency in messaging.
- Facilitate media engagement by building compelling media pitches and responding to media requests.
- Support organizing field missions, events, and activations related to partner engagements.
- Identify international days and milestones for visibility activities.
- Coordination
- Support the partnership team in reviewing and evaluating visibility activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external creatives to develop compelling stories and content.
- Support the coordination and implementation of communication campaigns in Riyadh.
- Conduct media mapping and engage with media outlets for coverage and features.
- Identify key influencers for strategic partnerships.
- Stay informed about industry trends and integrate innovations into activities.
- Digital Engagement and Multimedia Production
- Liaise with donors and social media focal points for content creation.
- Support the development of communication campaigns focusing on UNICEF key partnerships in KSA.
- Draft content including press releases, social media posts, and web stories.
- Develop creative multimedia content for key events and campaigns.
Other tasks may be performed as directed by the supervisor.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Growth in digital campaign contributions and fundraising outcomes.
- Successful implementation of digital content and campaigns.
- Expansion of influencer and partner network contributing to UNICEF’s initiatives.
- Consistency in brand messaging across all digital platforms.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age: 18 - 80
- Required Experience: 3 years
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
- Relevant Experience: 3 years
- Languages: English (Fluent, Required), Arabic (Fluent, Required)
- Required Education Level: Bachelor degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.

- Communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
- International or national work experience.

- Good understanding of world affairs, current events, and international development issues.
- Knowledge of global human rights issues, specifically relating to children and women.
