As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of complex construction projects, ensuring profitability, risk mitigation, and compliance with industry standards, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across all project phases.
Key Accountabilities
Negotiating, drafting, and managing contracts with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other parties.
Monitoring project costs closely, from initial estimates to final expenditures.
Analyzing cost reports, tracking spending, and implementing strategies to control costs, prevent overruns, and maximize profitability.
Allocating resources effectively, ensuring that budgets are adhered to, and making adjustments as needed.
Assessing revenue, expenses, and overall profitability, and providing insights and recommendations to improve financial outcomes.
Assessing potential risks, developing risk management plans, and implementing strategies to minimize the impact of unexpected events on the project's financial health.
Assessing the impact of changes on costs, timelines, and contracts, ensuring proper documentation and negotiation.
Overseeing procurement activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, equipment, and services.
Resolving issues of contract disputes or disagreements through negotiation, mediation, or legal means while safeguarding the company's interests.
Developing financial strategies for the construction company.
Staying informed about industry trends, market fluctuations, and competitive landscapes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial management within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement, and financial reporting.
Experience with cost control, budgeting, and profitability analysis in large-scale projects.
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in contract frameworks such as FIDIC and other construction contract standards.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
