As a civil Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, specifically focusing on the finishing aspects of civil engineering projects. Your primary role will be to ensure that all finishing activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and according to project specifications, schedules, and budgetary constraints. You will lead a team of workers, coordinate with subcontractors, and collaborate with the project manager and engineers to deliver high-quality results.
Key Accountability Areas
Project Coordination: Coordinate with the project manager to understand project requirements, timelines, and budget constraints. Ensure effective communication between various stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and team members.
Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of workers, including carpenters, painters, electricians, and other skilled tradespeople. Assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
Resource Management: Manage and allocate resources efficiently, including labor, equipment, tools, and materials. Ensure the availability of necessary resources to meet project requirements and timelines.
Quality Assurance: Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve any issues related to finishing works, such as painting, tiling, flooring, plastering, and cabinetry.
Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on the construction site. Ensure all workers adhere to safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Conduct regular safety meetings and address any safety concerns promptly.
Progress Tracking: Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the project manager. Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used, and labor hours for reporting and billing purposes. Identify and report any delays, issues, or changes that may affect the project timeline or budget.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any construction-related issues or conflicts that may arise on the site. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to find effective solutions and maintain project momentum.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily progress reports, work logs, and incident reports. Ensure all necessary paperwork, permits, and inspections are completed on time and in compliance with regulations.
Role Accountability
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in civil engineering or construction management is desirable.
Proven experience as a site foreman or supervisor in civil engineering or construction projects, with a focus on finishing works.
Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and building codes related to finishing works.
Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and coordinate with various stakeholders.
Sound understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce safety protocols on the job site.
Ability to read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
Proficiency in using construction management software, project scheduling tools, and MS Office applications.
