Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Juaymah NGL Fractionation Department’s (JNGLFD) Technical Support Unit (TSU).

TSU’s main function is to provide expert guidance, support and resources to facilitate a safe and productive working environment within our Juaymah NGL plant. We achieve this through continuous operation and project support to ensure the highest standards of safety, efficient operation, and effective project execution.

Your primary role is to provide comprehensive civil and structural engineering support across JNGLFD, by assessing the integrity of existing structures, including foundations, platforms, and support systems. You will identify deficiencies or areas for improvement, and recommend solutions to ensure safety, compliance, and structural longevity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop structural design calculations for steel structures and reinforced concrete foundations for in-plant buildings and equipment support, such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, furnaces, tanks, air coolers, pumps, piping, and electrical cables in all refinery facilities in compliance with relevant codes and standards (Saudi Aramco Standard, API, and other).
  2. Provide support to maintenance support organizations by developing repair procedures and follow up on ongoing repairs.
  3. Review detailed drawings and material specifications from the Layout Group for steel structure modifications as requested by maintenance.
  4. Perform structural calculations in accordance with AISC and company standards, to determine if an existing steel structure can safely support increases in load, and provide recommendations to strengthen the structure when required.
  5. Perform calculations in accordance with ACI and company standards, to determine if an existing foundation can continue to safely support a load based on concrete in a deteriorated condition, and provide recommendations to repair the foundation when required.
  6. Carry out technical assessments of all the miscellaneous items, example: roof waterproofing membranes, joint sealants, anchor bolts, structural bolts, coatings, etc.
  7. Perform structural calculations to determine where temporary supports are required during construction and any other structural modification as requested.

Minimum Requirements

  1. You must hold a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. You should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Oil/Gas Industry as a civil engineer.
  3. Holders of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineers (C.Eng) are preferred.
  4. You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in structural analysis software applications.
  5. Knowledge of international standards and codes such as AISC, ACI and API (especially API-936) is essential.
