Job summary
MISSION:
The Chief Surveyor will be responsible for leading all surveying activities, managing a team of surveyors, and ensuring the accurate execution of surveying operations in line with project specifications. This role will involve working on large-scale infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, tunnels, and utilities, requiring advanced knowledge of land surveying techniques and technologies.
TASKS:
Surveying Management:
- Lead and supervise all on-site surveying activities, including the preparation of accurate topographical maps, layouts, and detailed measurements for infrastructure projects.
- Ensure all surveying tasks are executed in compliance with project plans, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the surveying team and subcontractors, managing workloads, schedules, and ensuring high standards of precision and accuracy.
- Establish and maintain geodetic control networks and benchmarks for all phases of the project.
Survey Equipment and Technology:
- Utilize advanced surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS, and laser scanners to ensure high-precision measurements and layout control.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and functionality of all surveying equipment and tools.
- Implement the latest surveying technologies (e.g., drones, 3D scanning, GIS) for improved data accuracy and project efficiency.
Coordination and Documentation:
- Coordinate with the engineering, construction, and design teams to ensure survey data supports the project’s construction progress.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, drawings, and calculations, and maintain accurate records of all surveying activities.
- Verify and approve survey data provided by subcontractors and third-party surveyors, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the surveying team and project staff on complex surveying issues.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with local regulations, GCC country standards, and project safety protocols.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure survey work aligns with design plans and layouts, identifying any potential issues before they affect the project schedule.
- Develop and enforce safety guidelines and procedures related to surveying activities.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of surveyors, providing training and professional development to ensure team members are up-to-date with the latest industry standards and technologies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications in surveying or land management are a plus.
- 15+ years of experience as a Surveyor / Topographer, with a strong background in complex infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, railways, bridges, utilities, and tunneling).
- Extensive experience working in the GCC region, with knowledge of local regulations, standards, and geographic conditions.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects from a surveying and topographical perspective.
- Expertise in the use of modern surveying equipment and software, including total stations, GPS systems, laser scanners, drones, AutoCAD, and GIS software.
- Fluent level of English, written and spoken.
