A little taste of your day to day
Your role will include but not be limited to:
- Lead and inspire a team of pastry staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performance kitchen environment.
- Design, create, and execute a wide variety of pastry items, including but not limited to desserts, breads, pastries, chocolates, and confections, tailored to both a la carte offerings and special events.
- Stay ahead of pastry trends and culinary innovations, consistently experimenting with new techniques, flavors, and presentation styles to ensure our offerings remain fresh and exciting.
- Ensure that all pastry items meet the hotel's rigorous standards for taste, texture, and presentation, while maintaining a high level of consistency in production.
- Mentor and train pastry team members in technical skills, kitchen operations, and quality control within the department.
- Oversee the purchasing of ingredients, maintaining stock levels and ensuring proper storage techniques to preserve freshness and quality.
- Work closely with the Executive Chef and other departments to develop and execute seasonal menus and special events.
- Create stunning custom desserts and pastry displays for weddings, gala events, and special occasions, ensuring each is a unique and memorable experience.
- Maintain strict adherence to health and safety standards, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and safety protocols are followed in all kitchen operations.
Ideally, you'll have some or all the following qualifications and experience we're looking for:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef, preferably in a luxury hotel, fine dining, or high-end restaurant environment.
- Formal training from a recognized culinary school, with specialization in pastry arts preferred.
- A true passion for pastry and an eye for detail, with the ability to innovate and create visually stunning, delectable desserts.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and motivating a team of culinary professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, plating and presentation, and dessert trends.
- Proficiency in advanced pastry techniques such as sugar work, chocolate tempering, and sugar sculptures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments.
