Job description

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the B2B catering sector. The role focuses on building strong relationships with potential clients, generating leads, negotiating contracts, and driving business growth. The BDM works closely with the operations, sales, and marketing teams to develop proposals that meet client needs and expand the company's market presence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development:
    • Identify and target potential clients in strategically targeted segments such as Construction, Oil and Gas PIF, Business and Industries, and Healthcare.
    • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and trends in the B2B catering and related services sector.
    • Build a pipeline of qualified leads through networking, cold calling, referrals, industry events, and online platforms.
    • Develop tailored business proposals and presentations to pitch the company's catering and related services to potential clients.
  2. Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for clients during the sales process, ensuring excellent communication and understanding of client needs.
    • Work closely with the operations and supply chain to create customized catering and related services solutions that align with client preferences and budget.
  3. Strategic Planning & Growth Initiatives:
    • Develop and execute a business development plan to drive revenue growth and expand the company's footprint in the market as per the approved Strategic Plan.
    • Collaborate with the operations and tendering teams to align business development strategies with overall company objectives.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities for market expansion, new service offerings, and partnership development.
  4. Contract Negotiation and Closing:
    • Together with the senior management, lead contract negotiations with clients, ensuring that terms are favorable and aligned with company objectives.
    • Ensure that all contracts meet legal and financial standards while delivering maximum value for the client.
    • Close deals and achieve or exceed the budgeted sales targets and revenue goals.
  5. Sales Reporting and Forecasting:
    • Track sales performance against targets and provide regular reports to senior management on business development activities.
    • Use data to forecast sales growth, assess the effectiveness of business development strategies, and make adjustments as needed.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to improve the sales process and client engagement strategies.
  6. Networking and Brand Building:
    • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to build brand awareness and generate leads.
    • Develop a professional network within the catering, hospitality, and related industries to support business development efforts.

Person Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Additional certifications in business development, sales, or marketing are beneficial.
  • Deep understanding of the B2B catering market, including key players, industry trends, and client needs.
  • Knowledge of pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and revenue management.
  • Familiarity with the legal, regulatory, and financial aspects of the catering business.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record of closing deals and achieving sales targets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders.
