The Bus Operation Expert will ensure that the Bus and ITS Systems will be effectively operated to meet the project operational requirements and ensure that all relevant operational experts shall be available on a call-out basis to attend any incident that may occur. Optimum services will be delivered to the commuters safely.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee start of operations through all the phases of the Bus and ITS Contractors’ activities to verify that all the contractual requirements are fully met.
2. Be responsible for the ongoing day-to-day delivery of passenger services in accordance with the KPI Regime and best market practices.
3. Ensure safety and excellence at the heart of all services.
4. Lead the operations on a 24/7 basis for resolving incidents, accidents, and emergencies that may occur on the Bus Project.
5. Develop the operations and maintenance manual.
6. Review and manage PTC monthly and annual performance reports.
7. Review and manage PMS monthly and annual performance reports.
8. Supervise the Operations Control Centre (bus operations) and coordinate special situations like crisis coordination, disaster recovery, etc.
9. Produce reports for the PMS team to be presented to the client on punctuality, kilometers, and all required KPI reports.
10. Compare operational data from ITS systems and inspections status prior to preparing the reports for the client.
11. Play an integral role within the development of base optimization and future expansion plans, with routes, fleet allocation, and depot strategies.
12. Support and report to the Senior Manager – Bus Services Delivery.
13. Be present at the scene of any incident, providing advice and support to the client’s senior management until the situation is brought under control.
14. Coordinate with specialists and third parties for incident mitigations to prevent future occurrences.
15. Coordinate with the Journey Planner expert to ensure a smooth experience for the commuters.
16. Monitor the operations contractor to see how effectively inventory management, correct ordering of supplies, maintenance and replacement of operational equipment, optimizing processes, overseeing the operations team, and liaising with external stakeholders are managed.

Qualification:

1. University Degree.
2. 10 years’ experience in bus operations either in:
1. Operational experience in a Bus operating company, and/or
2. Client organization managing a Bus operator, and/or
3. Consultant team managing Bus operator.
3. Contract management in a Public Transport environment.
4. Prior experience dealing with multiple Contractors and their performance against KPI regime.
5. Experience dealing with Operating procedures, instructions, and code of conduct handbooks.
6. Experience dealing with timetables and materials related to successful and smooth operations of the transportation system.
7. Quality Management Systems.
8. Crisis Management Regime.
9. Transportation and Safety Procedures.
10. Must be prepared to be available on a call-out basis should an incident occur outside of the normal operational hours, with a maximum time to respond to call-out being 30 minutes.
11. Exposure dealing with any investigations and mitigations on any incidents and comfortably dealing with third parties (Police, Civil Defence, security agencies, etc).
12. Prior experience dealing with OEMs, manufacturers, and independent consultants/accident investigative agencies will be a requisite.
13. Proven organizational skills, including time management.
14. Project management experience.
15. Comprehensive high-level Stakeholder management skills.
16. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
17. Self-sufficiency and an ability to work with minimal supervision.
18. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
