General Information

You as an SAS Engineer will be part of Schneider Electric Energy business based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. You will be acting as the responsible commissioning engineer overseeing the installation, commissioning, and services of substation automation systems for assignments classified as medium commissioning complexity. Managing completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  1. Technical contribution: Acting as the lead for commissioning activities on a project. Ensuring that Schneider Electric is presented as a professional organization in all interactions with the customer.
  2. Interfacing with customers and external providers for approval of plant acceptance criteria, open issues closure, and performance tests.
  3. Coordinating site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification.
  4. Representing the commissioning function at project meetings and design review meetings.
  5. Contributing to the creation of the project commissioning philosophy and managing its implementation.
  6. Creating standard processes and tools. Using agreed processes and procedures to ensure compliance with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.
  7. Sales support: Assisting in preparing proposals or presentations of engineering projects or programs, including the provision of bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
  8. Contract management: Supporting contract managers in issuing claims for new or changed scope of work, cost impact, time impact, and risk quantifications.
  9. Providing cost-effective quality solutions as per customer requirements and delivering within budget and contract.
  10. Ensuring adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.
  11. Planning and control: Creating work plans and cost estimates in one's area of responsibility.
  12. Reviewing and approving scope, budget, and schedule for assignments ensuring quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost.
  13. Improving the effectiveness of work plans in collaboration with other functions.
  14. Risk and opportunity management: Conducting assessments during the commissioning phase to ensure safe implementation of the commissioning philosophy and identification of potential variation requests to support contract claims.
  15. Reporting any contract, quality, program, or cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution.
  16. Customer interaction: Engaging with customers, officials, contractors, and others, attending project meetings, and presenting specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  17. Supply chain management: Collaborating with the supply chain function to ensure technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed upon with potential suppliers.
  18. Providing technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepting fit-for-purpose supplied equipment or services.
  19. Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Maintaining a network of engineering professionals and sharing engineering best practices across different projects and disciplines.
  20. Processes and tools: Developing, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures, and tools. Reporting processes and tools inefficiencies and suggesting ideas for improvements.
  21. People leadership and development: Coaching, providing support, and technical advice to colleagues. Assigning tasks and directing engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering with 3 years' experience as a Commissioning Engineer of SAS systems and products.
  • EPAS L1/L2 and L3 training/certification.
  • Experience in executing projects including EcoSUI, EPAS GTW, and C264.
  • Knowledge of Substation automation systems and different communication protocols. In-depth product knowledge of Schneider Electric and competitors. Working knowledge & understanding of communication systems on various protocols, i.e., IEC101, IEC104, Modbus, DNP3.
  • Experience in large and medium complex projects in operation in IEC 61850.
  • Experience in EPAS design, configuration, and Testing & Commissioning phases.
  • Proven problem-solving & conflict resolution skills with a sound understanding of escalation requirements. Ability to prioritize and multitask across many projects with highly organized and efficient coordination skills.
  • Knowledge about NG standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
