The role is responsible for overseeing the bank’s asset and liability strategies to optimize the balance sheet, manage interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role involves developing and implementing ALM policies, modelling financial scenarios, and collaborating closely with various departments to support the bank’s overall financial strategy.
Responsibilities
Formulate and execute the bank’s ALM strategy to align with overall financial goals.
Identify and assess risks associated with the bank’s assets and liabilities.
Design the Framework for Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) and work on the implementation/governance program.
Develop and implement ALM policies and strategies in line with the bank’s overall objectives and regulatory requirements.
Implement strategies to optimize the liquidity and leverage ratios.
Identify, measure, and manage interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and foreign exchange risk.
Conduct regular stress testing and scenario analysis to gauge potential financial impacts.
Analyze balance sheet structures and optimize funding strategies. Calculate key financial ratios such as LCR, NSFR, and leverage ratio to ensure regulatory compliance.
Prepare comprehensive ALM reports detailing the bank’s liquidity position, funding strategies, and risk exposures. Present detailed ALM reports to senior management and the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and the board.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards pertaining to asset and liability management.
Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory bodies as required.
Work closely with the Treasury, Finance, Risk Management, and Investment teams to enhance financial performance.
Provide guidance and support in pricing strategies and product development.
Lead and mentor the ALM team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Manage resources effectively to ensure timely and accurate analysis and reporting.
Technology and Systems
Leverage financial modeling software and ALM systems for effective decision-making.
Drive improvements in ALM processes and technology infrastructure.
Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager related to the nature of the work.
Enforce, incorporate, and comply with all necessary controls and related information security policies, procedures, practices, training, reporting, personal due diligence and vigilance, within departmental/unit activities and operations.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally/regionally recognized institution in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
Years & Nature of Experience
8 to 10 years of equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
Subject matter expert for a capability area or key process in their organization; typically leads design work in their area.
Has led technical or process areas; excels at leading teams and working effectively with other areas and stakeholders outside their function.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Proficient in financial modelling and risk assessment tools.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Leadership and team management capabilities.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting ALM.
