Assistant Quantity Surveyor

JOB OBJECTIVES

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for assisting the Quantity Surveyor in measuring based on the selected measurement method and preparing cost estimates/cost plans, BOQs, Preambles, and Specifications. Additionally, the role includes assisting in pricing the BOQs and preparing tender analysis/reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Quantification and Costing of Construction Works:
2. Understanding the rules of measurement and the various standard methods of measurement (POMI, SMM7, NRM 2, etc.).
3. Reviewing Tender documents (drawings, schedules, specs, etc.).
4. Assisting in amending the method of measurement document to suit project requirements.
5. Measuring building works items and preparing measurement sheets.
6. Assisting in preparing contract preliminaries based on the selected measurement method.
7. Assisting in preparing Bills of Quantities and Preambles.
8. Cost Planning:
9. Demonstrating knowledge of cost estimate preparation.
10. Demonstrating knowledge of the rules under which Order of Cost Estimates and Elemental Cost Plans are produced (NRM1 and NRM3).
11. Demonstrating knowledge of the various stages of cost planning and the design & construction process stages as per RIBA plan of Work or AIA.
12. Assisting in the preparation of cost estimate reports.
13. Data Management:
14. Using paper-based or electronic project filing systems and ensuring security of data.
15. Ensuring proper documentation is recorded: letters, emails, notices, telephone notes, instructions, drawings, photographs, etc.
16. Reviewing all variations throughout the project and consolidating them in a log sheet for accurate reference.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or Equivalent is a must.
2. 0 years of General Experience is required.
3. Being a member of a Professional Body (RICS, CIOB, CIArb, etc.) is a plus.
4. Computer Literacy in MS Office is a must (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
5. Additional language (other than Native and English) is a plus.
