Assistant Maintenance Manager Tasks – Maritime & Facility Maintenance

Primary Responsibilities :

1. Oversee maintenance, repair, and servicing of maritime heavy equipment including reach stackers, straddle carriers, empty container handlers, forklifts, heavy diesel trucks, and petrol vehicles.
2. Schedule and supervise routine checks, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.
3. Facility Maintenance Oversight : Ensure operational readiness and upkeep of warehouses, workshops, offices, and yard facilities.
4. Manage maintenance activities related to electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, structural repairs, and general infrastructure.
5. Operational Coordination : Coordinate closely with operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure efficient scheduling of equipment maintenance.
6. Respond swiftly to urgent operational maintenance requirements in the container yard, warehouses, and workshop.
7. Workshop and Yard Management : Supervise the maintenance workshop operations, ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
8. Regularly inspect maintenance practices performed within the yard and workshop to adhere to safety and quality standards.
9. Parts Inventory and Procurement : Maintain optimal inventory levels for spare parts, tools, lubricants, and consumables required for equipment and facility maintenance.
10. Coordinate procurement activities ensuring timely availability of necessary maintenance supplies.
11. Staff Management & Training : Supervise maintenance technicians and support staff, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
12. Organize training sessions on equipment handling, maintenance protocols, and safety practices.
13. Documentation and Reporting : Maintain comprehensive records of equipment maintenance schedules, repair histories, inventory logs, and compliance documentation.
14. Prepare periodic maintenance performance reports highlighting issues, solutions, and improvement recommendations.
15. Safety Compliance : Enforce adherence to safety standards and regulations within maintenance activities.
16. Implement preventive safety measures and ensure maintenance staff compliance with company safety protocols.
17. Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and optimizing maintenance processes.
18. Recommend and implement improvements in maintenance techniques, equipment upgrades, and operational procedures.

Applicant Requirements :

1. Must possess extensive experience with heavy maritime equipment such as reach stackers, straddle carriers, empty container handlers, forklifts, diesel trucks, and petrol vehicles.
2. Strong knowledge of facility maintenance in warehouse and maritime environments.
3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, handling multiple priorities efficiently.
