We are working with a forward-thinking client, taking Hotel Design and Construction to the next level of technical specification and sustainability while still ensuring the developments are stunning. To support their ongoing growth, we are looking for a qualified Architect to join the team based in GCC as they embark on a number of very exciting and large scale projects.

Ideally, the incoming Architect will have a number of years of experience across hotel development specifically. They will have a good grasp of modern methods of construction and excellent technical design skills. This is a juicy and multi-faceted role which will require skills and experience across each phase of design and build.

Main responsibilities

1. Assist Executive Director in establishing hotel vision and strategy for new masterplan projects.
2. Work with the Construction and Project team to determine the technical suitability of sites.
3. Provide technical inputs to the hotel development team on design vision, project positioning, scope requirements, and project schedules for initial planning.
4. Ensure that the design aspects of the proposed masterplan, phases, and individual assets meet the Hotels business vision and strategy.
5. Participate and direct consultants through concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and post-opening deficiency phase.
6. Assist in the selection of all consultants and review their description of scope of services.
7. Meet with consultants to review the design brief and operating criteria & design standards.
8. Review consultants' responsibilities, budget controls, and reporting functions.
9. Provide detailed direction to the specialist consultants - kitchen and laundry designers, IT, audio visual, acoustic, lighting, landscaping, etc.
10. Prepare the delivery strategy of the hotel developments, coordinate with and integrate the input from other support functions; technical, legal, finance, market research, sales, and marketing and operations, to deliver the project development plan.

Qualifications & Skills

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design.
2. Professional licensing (NCARB, AIA, RIBA).
3. LEED Accredited or other sustainability certifications are strongly encouraged.
4. Experience with international operators and developer experience is preferred.
5. Knowledge of hotel operations including Front of House and Back of House planning.
6. Must have extensive knowledge of hospitality design and processes required to assist in contract negotiations, oversee design development, and ensure construction is in line with brand standards.
7. Highly skilled with technical software (AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Primavera, MS Suite, etc.).
8. Proven track record in the delivery of hotel projects.
9. Strong leadership and organizational skills.
10. Ability to think cross-functionally to assist construction team members.
11. Positive and agile personality with an ability to work in a dynamic environment.
12. Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal).
