Serves as the Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) technician, operating under the guidance of the ALSE Lead Technician. Conducts technical inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs on various aviation life support equipment and survival gear. This includes flotation equipment, anti-exposure suits, first aid kits, survival vests, radios, aircrew body armor, flight helmets, and more. Manages requisitioning and issuing processes for necessary equipment. Provides training to Customer and contractor personnel on the use of technical publications, tools, test equipment, and special tools relevant to the ALSE discipline, facilitating their development into proficient Aviation Life Support Equipment Specialists. Ensures the execution of all related operations in a safe manner.
Responsibilities
Conduct annual ALSE training sessions for both Customer and contractor Aviation personnel, ensuring compliance with US Army Aviation regulations and procedures.
Inspect, repair, clean, and maintain ALSE equipment, night vision goggles, and radios, following established procedures.
Establish and manage an ALSE library, ensuring accessibility to relevant documentation for both training and operational purposes.
Conduct regular supply and equipment inventories, and initiate orders as necessary to maintain adequate stock levels.
Execute tasks as directed by the Production Control Manager, contributing to the overall efficiency of ALSE operations.
Work independently within broad guidelines, retaining the authority to set and accomplish goals related to ALSE duties and responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for inspecting, testing, repairing, and replacing helmets and NVG goggles used by employees on company aircraft and subsidiary companies.
Perform essential functions, including the inspection and repair of company-owned helmets, NVGs, creating shipping/receiving labels, and maintaining accurate company inventory records.
Supports, in coordination with the Maintenance Manager and Flight Operations Manager, the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) process and procedure.
Other duties as assigned and or directed by management.
Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods.
Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
Graduate of a US Military Aviation Life Support Equipment Course required. Civilian equivalent education may be reviewed for substitution.
Former ALSE instructor.
Prior experience working on Army Rotary Wing specific ALSE and experience working with Desert and over-water ALSE gear.
Demonstrated past performance in the development of organizational plans, policies, and operational procedures.
Graduate of PLDC/WLC or equivalent
Experience:
Three (3) years former Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Technician experience required.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of rotary wing Aviation operations inclusive of basic maintenance, and aviation logistics.
Certificates: US Military Aviation Life Support Equipment Course.
Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation.
Proficient in MS Office software.
Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
DD214 required for military experience.
Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include medical, drug testing, background checks, etc.
Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a military maintenance unit.
Strong knowledge of military logistics procedures and regulations.
