Job Description:
As an Advanced Level Systems Operator specializing in Security Camera Systems, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-level surveillance systems. You will manage the day-to-day functions of security camera networks, ensuring that all systems are running efficiently and that issues are resolved quickly. This role requires deep technical expertise, a solid understanding of networking and security technologies, and the ability to monitor and manage complex surveillance systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring and Operation:
- Continuously monitor and operate security camera systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Oversee the functionality of multiple camera systems, including IP-based systems, CCTV cameras, and integrated video surveillance platforms.
- Ensure that security footage is captured and stored properly, and all cameras are working as expected.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to security cameras, recording devices, and associated software.
- Perform on-site and remote troubleshooting for hardware failures, network connectivity issues, and software malfunctions.
- Coordinate with other technical teams to resolve complex system issues, such as networking, server failures, or hardware defects.
- System Maintenance and Upgrades:
- Perform routine maintenance and software updates to keep the security camera systems running smoothly and securely.
- Install and configure new security equipment and cameras, integrating them into existing systems.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
- Data Management and Archiving:
- Manage video storage solutions, ensuring that all footage is archived and backed up as per company policy.
- Monitor storage capacities, managing video retention policies, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Perform periodic reviews of archived footage and purge old data as required by retention policies.
- Security System Integration:
- Ensure that security camera systems are integrated effectively with other security systems, such as access control, alarm systems, and other monitoring technologies.
- Troubleshoot and configure integration points to ensure seamless data flow between systems.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain detailed logs of system activities, incidents, and actions taken to resolve issues.
- Prepare and submit reports on system performance, incidents, maintenance, and upgrades to management.
- Document troubleshooting processes and create knowledge base materials to support other operators and technicians.
- Collaboration with Other Teams:
- Work closely with network engineers, IT support, and other technical staff to ensure the effective operation and integration of security systems.
- Assist with project management for the deployment of new surveillance technologies, ensuring timely and efficient implementation.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure that all security systems are compliant with local laws, regulations, and company security policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of video footage and ensure that it is stored and accessed securely.
- Monitor for any vulnerabilities within the surveillance system and report potential security risks to higher management.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting complex security camera systems, including CCTV, IP cameras, NVR/DVR systems, and video management software (VMS).
- Networking and IT Skills: Strong understanding of networking protocols, IP camera configurations, routers, switches, and network-based systems. Ability to troubleshoot network issues related to security systems.
- Problem-Solving and Diagnostics: Skilled in diagnosing issues related to both hardware and software, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve problems efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to identify small issues before they become larger problems, ensuring the system’s reliability and effectiveness.
- Documentation and Reporting: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to document processes, incidents, and system performance for internal records and reporting.
- Security Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of industry standards, privacy laws, and regulations related to video surveillance, ensuring the system’s compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications: Technical certifications such as Certified Security Systems Integrator (CSSI), CCTV certifications, networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco), or similar certifications are a plus.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced security camera systems or similar technical systems.
- Technical Skills: Experience with video management software (VMS), network camera setups, NVR/DVR management, and troubleshooting network issues.
