Summary

At Novartis, we are reimagining medicine to improve and extend people's lives. As a member of the laboratory team, you will generate physical/mechanical/functionality analytical data to characterize and assess quality and stability of our vials, syringes, autoinjectors, etc. and respective drug-device combination products. You will contribute to data assessments with project teams, to out-of-spec investigations and method improvements. The laboratory is located in Schaftenau, Tirol, Austria, a vibrant site with both development and manufacturing of a broad range of Novartis portfolio.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and performing laboratory functional testing of parenteral medical devices and drug-device combination products, including vials, syringes, needle-safety devices, auto-injectors, on-body pumps, and innovative containers and devices for special drugs like gene therapy and radio-ligand therapy.
  • Measuring key parameters like injection forces, injection times, dose accuracy, physical dimensions, and container closure integrity, with state-of-the-art equipment like customized tensile testers, computer tomographs, coordinate measurement machines, and mass extraction.
  • Compiling test result reports.
  • Contributing to qualification and maintenance of analytical equipment.
  • Supporting method development, validation, and transfer.
  • Participating in root cause investigations for complaints or out-of-spec results.
  • Supporting the writing, review, and update of lab-related SOPs.
  • Collaborating with other functions in development to ensure strong analytical data packages for drug-device combination products.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Finished apprenticeship or secondary school, or bachelor’s or master’s degree in Technical/Engineering/Life-Sciences area.
  • Strong skills in English, verbal and written. German skills are advantageous.
  • Experience working in a laboratory.
  • Experience with medical devices or pharmaceutical industry represents an advantage.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position, the minimum salary is €46,305.00 /year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications, and individual competencies.

We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
