Job Description
As an Application Engineer, you will work in the Test Center Recycling, which is part of the Technical Department. Your main responsibility is testing machines, software, and applications for TOMRA customers and other company departments.

You will conduct tests for potential and existing customers to demonstrate the performance of our machines. This also includes feasibility studies for brand owners and the validation of new prototypes and software versions. You will document and present the results to Sales, customers, and internal teams.

Additionally, you will support Sales in designing customer processes upon request and assist the local Manufacturing and Service teams when needed.
Role And Responsibilities
  • Preparation, operation and documentation of tests in the Test Center
  • Summarizing and providing of test results to Sales and R&D
  • Support of optimization on customer’s site for applications and machines
  • Support of prototype testing
  • Testing and evaluation of new applications
  • Support for training of Service and Sales
  • Serve as a contact for questions concerning applications
  • Could be asked for additional assignments if the circumstances should require it
  • Support of projects with Universities and RnD institutions if required
  • Acts as a guide for Field Service Engineers before, during and after installation or the integration of new applications
Qualifications
  • A degree in waste management, disposal engineering, process engineering, environmental or recycling technology, or a related field
  • Excellent German and English language skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally occasionally
  • A valid Class B driver's license
  • Daily on-site work in Mülheim-Kärlich required
  • Enjoys hands-on work
  • Open and communicative personality
  • Strong affinity for optics, sensor technology, mechanics, and software
  • Accurate and systematic working style with good coordination skills, analytical thinking, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Customer-oriented communication skills
