The job
For the coordination of the preparation and defence of the biodiversity topic in the future research programme, we are looking for a Topic Manager (f/m/x) to support the Topic Leader. The position is limited to two years (01.07.2025 to 30.06.2027).
This is a 100 % position. A reduction in working hours to a minimum of 75 % is possible. A division of the position into two 50 % positions is also possible.
- Coordination of the preparation of the research proposal as the central contact person
- Organisation of strategic workshops including summarising and preparing the most important decisions for a strategy paper
- Integration of various research focal points in the topic, management and coordination of conceptual content, collaboration in the development of synthesis concepts
- Participation in the development of concepts, key figures and measures for the development of the topic's strategic goals
- Preparation of scientific decisions including the distribution of work tasks and determination of necessary resources (personnel, infrastructure, large-scale equipment)
- Coordination and operational support for the strategic evaluation of the topic
- Coordination of feedback and reviewer comments following the evaluation
- Preparation of a white paper for future work in the topic based on the research proposal and the results and feedback from the evaluation

Your profile
- Completed scientific university degree (Master's, Diploma or comparable) in a relevant natural, environmental or social science field (bio-, geo-, environmental, communication sciences or similar)
- Good understanding of biodiversity and ecosystem research
- Sound knowledge and several years of experience in project and/or science management
- Strong knowledge of intercultural cooperation in the field of science
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Experience in drafting and editing science strategy papers and reports
- Very good coordination skills
- Experience in organising conferences and workshops
- Confident in written and spoken German and English
