The IT Service Center (ITS) of the University of Kassel offers you the opportunity to apply your expertise in a future-oriented and dynamic working environment that combines a secure workplace and exciting challenges.

With around 90 dedicated employees, the IT Service Center is responsible for the university's central ICT infrastructure and ensures digital support for employees, students, and partners. To protect this infrastructure and ensure a high level of security in all digital processes, the IT Service Center strives for comprehensive information security management in accordance with BSI IT baseline protection. There is a particular focus on securing complex IT infrastructures and implementing modern security concepts.

As an IT security architect, you will take on a responsible role with us: you will develop security strategies, advise specialist departments, and ensure that the university's security standards remain at the highest level.

Your tasks

• You will advise internal IT projects from an information security perspective and support the implementation of modern security measures.
• You develop strategic decision papers and make well-founded recommendations for the further development of the security architecture.
• You design central solutions for collecting security-relevant information and strengthen the ability to respond to cyber threats.
• You set up security tools and processes and continuously develop them for effective incident response.
• You analyze vulnerabilities and security gaps in the IT infrastructure and actively work to eliminate them.
• You contribute to the design and implementation of information security guidelines and develop them further with us.

What you bring with you

• A university degree in computer science, IT security, or a comparable qualification.
• Professional experience in the field of IT security or cyber defense - ideally in a similarly demanding environment.
• A deep understanding of security technologies, both for on-premise and cloud environments.
• Extensive knowledge of network security, server and endpoint hardening, and security policy development.
• Sound experience in analyzing IT security incidents and initiating appropriate countermeasures (incident response).
• Knowledge of common regulatory standards such as BSI IT-Grundschutz and ISO 27001.
• Communication and project management skills that allow you to convince even in challenging situations.
• Very good written and spoken German (at least level B2).
