About the Company: One of our clients, a Freight Forwarding business in Düsseldorf, is seeking a Head of Finance and Accounting. Recently acquired by a European logistics company group, the company is undergoing a transition to merge and restructure its management and operations.

About the Role: As the Head of Finance and Accounting, you will oversee financial matters for two companies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monthly and yearly closing, and financial reporting
2. Budgeting and forecasting
3. Reviewing, restructuring, optimizing, and managing bookkeeping operations with internal assistants and external tax advisors (current operations are old-school and paper-based)
4. Treasury, cash pooling, and cash flow management
5. Supporting and advising managing directors on finance and accounting matters
6. Handling all other ad hoc finance and accounting tasks
7. Managing payroll, which is currently outsourced but may be brought in-house in the future

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior finance or accounting role
3. Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
4. Experience with selecting and implementing accounting software
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
6. Strong leadership and team management abilities
7. Ability to work creatively and flexibly, and good teamwork
8. Proficiency in German and English
