Summary

The Site Engineering Head leads the Engineering organization, which is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and improving the engineering processes in the Site with respect to buildings, equipment, utilities, and energy.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

  • Mission & Vision of Engineering department, Objective setting, and Talent pool development.
  • Ensure Compliance with Quality Manual / Quality Modules / GOPs / Novartis Manufacturing Manual and support internal and external audits.
  • Drive / improve technical availability, reliability, and condition of assets via Total Productive Maintenance mindset.
  • Establish cost-efficient repair and maintenance processes in compliance with local regulations, HSE, GMP.
  • Define and execute asset strategy and proper asset lifecycle management and recapitalization.
  • Manage investment budget & project portfolio for Site and lead investment review committee.
  • Develop project execution strategy and execute investment projects according to customer needs (Scope, Costs, Schedule).
  • Lead and continuously improve Technical Services (infrastructure, utilities), availability, reliability, and cost optimization.
  • Manage, coordinate, and customize centrally shared systems/databases to provide professional infrastructure for design, installation, qualification, and lifecycle management of facilities and equipment.
  • Lead the environmental sustainability initiatives to reach Novartis Environmental Sustainability objectives.

Essential requirements:

  • Engineering Degree.
  • Previous extensive experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Leadership experience (successful project management) on major investment projects and/or large maintenance organization.
  • Excellent project management skills including contract management, project appraisal, and financial knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively present complex ideas and solutions to executive management, technical experts, and regional/local teams.
  • In-depth technical knowledge in chemical and/or pharmaceutical processes and equipment.
  • Fluent in Italian and English.
