Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Pre-assessment Nurse

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust is expanding their Endoscopy Services to enable our patient's needs to be met seven days a week. If you would like to be part of these changes and developments, we have the opportunity to recruit staff of all grades.

If you have the drive and enthusiasm and would like to be part of a growing service with new innovations including Bowel Cancer Screening, complex polypectomy, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography, Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy, and Bronchoscopy, then you could be just the person we are looking for.

Full induction and training will be provided depending on any previous experience you may have. We encourage and give staff the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies within this specialty.

Main duties of the job

  1. Provide specialist nursing expertise, facilitating evidence-based patient-centered care and assessment for a defined caseload of patients undergoing an endoscopy procedure.
  2. Co-ordinate patients throughout their pre-assessment pathway, with a high level of input into the management and care of patients prior to admission for specified procedures.
  3. Act as a resource and provide education for patients and health care professionals.
  4. Carry out relevant forms of care without direct supervision, working effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Support all members of staff within endoscopy, including nursing students and visiting healthcare professionals. Suggest improvements in care provision, recognizing and challenging poor practice, raising concerns to the relevant agencies where appropriate.
  6. Ensure that the nursing philosophy of care for Endoscopy is reflected in practice.

About us

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected, and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families, and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used, then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK, you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
