A Snapshot of Your Day:

As a Global Commodity Manager (f/m/d), you will build up the strategic procurement for the Engineering Services category in one Business Area, focusing on outsourcing Engineering Services (e.g. testing, simulations, mechanical/electrical/systems engineering) to suppliers during the R&D, product development, and customer implementation phase. In this key role, you will work closely with partners from engineering globally, being at the forefront of the latest innovations and product developments within Siemens Energy.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Lead sourcing activities from demand request to awarding, performing total cost analysis, and selecting high-performing suppliers that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements; initiate and lead cost-saving and bundling activities (incl. reporting) and increase managed spend.
  • Prepare and negotiate global frame contracts & price agreements for strategic suppliers in accordance with business and market requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers, further developing the strategic supplier portfolio while de-risking supplier dependencies and reducing tail-end suppliers.
  • Consult partners up to senior management on outsourcing strategies and risk avoidance (contract model options) and work closely with different procurement areas (business area, regional, and project level).
  • Collaborate with partners and other procurement areas to build and implement the engineering services category strategy for one Business Area and create additional value meeting business area needs and strategic objectives.
  • Understand demand structure and business area product portfolio and strategy, regularly review with partners planned projects/demands, and derive strategic procurement activities while building up basic technical knowledge for business area product portfolio.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, or similar.
  • Long-standing experience in a procurement or commercial role, ideally in a global organization; experience in engineering is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, along with leadership and project management experience (e.g. PMP certification) is a plus.
  • Experience working in global teams and communicating up to senior management across the organization.
  • High sense of accountability & initiative combined with strong analytical skills as well as results-oriented, structured work style, strategic thinking, and customer-focused.
  • Business fluent in English and conversational in German.
