Support the day-to-day management and performance of the RMC ICT and infrastructure maintenance contractor to ensure the availability and performance targets for the RMC LAN, physical hardware and software systems are being met and that best practices are being followed.
Support the monitoring of the preventive maintenance activities of the RMC ICT and infrastructure maintenance contractor to ensure that secondary and contingency measures are available and will work should any equipment in the RMC or DR Control Rooms and data centres fail.
Monitor the RMC ICT and infrastructure maintenance contractor’s configuration and management of the RMC’s virtualized environments, ensuring resources are allocated as per system requirements and that the Monitoring & Management software for the environments has correctly configured alerts and is being monitored adequately.
Monitor the RMC ICT and infrastructure maintenance contractor’s management of RMC/DR firewall configurations and ensure firewall & hardware change control is logged in accordance with ICT best practices.
Support the review of detailed plans, specifications and estimates for roadway Intelligent Traffic System implementation projects and advise on the suitability of instation (RMC/DR data centres) hardware and infrastructure to meet the project requirements and identify any additional compute or backup resources required to support the additional requirements.
Contribute to the resolution of technical issues, such as substandard products, on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
Coordinate with ISD to ensure the RMC Operational Technologies are aligned with the business technologies IT security requirements and management measures.
Contribute to studies on hosting options, cloud readiness and optimum architectures for the RMC environments.
Identify key trends and provide suggestions for improving efficiency and performance for the RMC and DR Datacentre environments.
Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence to provide a solution to engineering problems and perform the ICT input into any troubleshooting triage.
Keep up to date with industry best practices and apply best practices to ensure professional development.
Adhere to Health and Safety policy and procedures and comply with new work instructions.
Perform other duties/tasks as required.
Your Profile
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Relevant Subject.
Chartered Membership in Engineering or Relevant professional body would be an advantage.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certifications or equivalent for Telemetry, Network Hardware and software Certification.
Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage.
Minimum of 10 years’ cumulative experience in a relevant field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in specialist area including experience in Datacentre principles, practices, virtualization and service availability management.
Ability to establish strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Ability to deliver and support change.
Ability to influence and engage stakeholders and staff at all levels within the organization.
Competent in Microsoft Office Packages, Network Management Systems and fault management systems.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is essential.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is preferred.
