Journeyman Electrician

• This position is physically located in Qatar in support of LOGCAP.

Overview

Under the supervision of the Master Electrician, this position involves the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems and components of electrical power distribution and generating equipment. Responsibilities include maintaining power to telecommunications equipment and ensuring the facility’s electrical distribution system is in good repair. The electrician must comply with National Electrical Code (NEC) 2008 for repairs and upgrades to existing construction and NEC 2011 standards for new construction, contract specifications, and MIL Standards/Regulations.

• Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, operates, and maintains electrical systems and components of electrical power distribution and generating equipment.
• Performs operations and maintenance duties to maintain power to telecommunications equipment and maintains the facility’s electrical distribution system.
• Electrical work experience includes installation in commercial and industrial categories.
• Complies with NEC 2008 and NEC 2011 standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.
• Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
• Must possess a Journeyman Electrician license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a host country driver's license.
• Experience:
• Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of work experience in the electrical wiring industry.
• Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of Electrical Codes.
• Ability to manage multiple job sites and priorities.
• Effective communication and interaction skills.
• Recognizes the importance of safety in the workplace and follows safety rules.
• Basic computer skills.
• Working Conditions:
• Capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Indoor and/or outdoor environment with harsh conditions.
• Physical Requirements:
• Light work; may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, and prolonged standing.
• Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
